Where did the time go? - Christmas is here!

Can you believe it, it's almost Christmas? This one really snuck up on me.
Here's a great gift idea for those on your Christmas list who seem to have everything - the "Madeira Beach Nikes". These boots are standard issue for all true Mad Beach folks. They go with everything... they look best with cut-off jeans and are usually accessorized with a 24-pack of Busch Light.
They are available at your finer bait and tackle shops. Prices vary.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

The Weather is Here...Wish You Were Beautiful

It's beginning to feel a lot like ... SUMMER! This is an incredible fall so far, chamber of commerce weather. While the north is getting snow dumped on them, we're at the beach. You ought to come on down! If you are coming down to the sunshine state be sure to check out www.IslandPropertiesByCheryl.com for your place to stay. Don't stay in some run-of-the-mill hotel, you can stay in a beach cottage, a condo, or an apartment, much more comfortable than a hotel 'room'.

If you're thinking of coming to the area for good, so you can throw away your snow shovel, check out www.VicinityBeachTeam.com for the best real estate company on the Gulf Coast. The firm is owned and staffed by long-time local residents who really know the beaches better than anyone.

Hope to see you soon - don't forget your sunscreen!

Boat Show's in Town

This weekend is the annual St Petersburg boat show. I'm heading out there today with the masses to look at boats that most of us cannot afford to buy, not to mention can't afford to fuel up. Anyway, it's good fun to dream. The weather is perfect for dreaming of a boat trip to some idyllic tropical getaway... oh wait a minute - I already live here, Madeira Beach is a great spot. Come on down and visit. If you need a nice place to stay while you're here, check out www.IslandPropertiesbyCheryl.com. Lot's of nice places at bargain prices. No cookie cutter hotel rooms - there are condos to cottages. Stay somewhere that has 'beach character' not some boring hotel room.

See ya'

Old Man Winter has left the building

What a difference a day makes! I went from having the heat on in the house to having to turn on the air conditioner. What the heck? It was 80+ degrees today and sunny. I guess that's why we live here.

Time to head to the beach.

News Update

The skeletal remains found under the building in John's Pass Village have been identified. The local news station had about a 10 second 'blip' of a story on it. They said the guy's name and that's about it. It went so fast I didn't even catch the name.

On a sunnier note - the weather has turned to "Wonderful". It's about 85 degrees and sunny - chamber of commerce weather. Speaking of the chamber of commerce - here's their website www.TampaBayBeaches.com.

Check it out for lots of good local information.

This doesn't happen every day

Newsflash from John's Pass Village! The skeletal remains of a person were found under one of the shops in John's Pass Village. As of today no one knows the sex, gender, age, cause, etc. of the deceased.

While remodeling one of the free-standing stores, the floorboards were removed and the remains were discovered - at this point it seems that all hell broke loose. The building was blocked off and a swarm of investigators took control.

The interesting part of the story is that the building underwent renovation less than 1 year ago, at which time the floorboards had been lifted to work on some plumbing under the building - no skeleton at that time. So, this is a 'new' skeleton. The situation remains a mystery.

I'll update this as I learn more.

Winter is in the air

It looks like our few days of winter are going to get here early this year. Thanks to a cold front that blew in last evening we are seeing low temps. in the upper 40's overnight. You can surely tell who the locals are when a little cold snap comes up - they are the ones wearing ski jackets, gloves and scarves when the mercury dips below 50 degrees. The tourists stand out for sure, they are the only ones in the pools at the condos, or swimming in the Gulf.

We'll have to get out the electric blanket tonight.

The first post

Wow, I guess I'm a little late in jumping into the 'blogosphere'. But, heck, better late than never! I hope you will check back often to see what's going on in our little town. If you have any ideas on how to make this blog better, please let me know.
